About Artos - Who we are

The People
Artos Innovation has been founded by Dr. Simon Webster who brings with him a 25 year track record of successful commercialisation of science and technology with a particular focus on the analytical, diagnostic and biopharmaceutical sectors.

In his previous role Simon was co-founder of Avacta Group plc, a successful AIM listed company providing contract analytical services and cutting-edge analytical and diagnostic products to the biopharmaceutical and in-vitro diagnostics markets. Simon served as Avacta’s Chief Scientific Officer for 8 years, playing a pivotal role in the development of the company and establishing himself as a recognised expert in the biophysical analysis of proteins and high-throughput formulation development of biopharmaceuticals.

During Simon's early career he developed and spearheaded the initial commercialisation of the first of a new generation of Raman instruments while at Renishaw plc. This became the best selling research grade Raman system in the world and represented a key step in the wider practical application of Raman spectroscopy across a number of industries. An updated version of this original instrument is still selling well after over 20 years as the Renishaw InVia and still retains Simon's original's core design.

In addition to Simon’s extensive experience and expertise, Artos draws on the services of a network of selected partners built up over many  years to deliver its range of commercial and technical services including IP, sales and marketing, technical services and business support.

The Company
Artos Innovation is a newly established enterprise operating at the innovative science and technology - commercial interface.

The company has been set up to connect and assist investors, technology transfer professionals and innovators in order to support the process of investment and commercialisation of new technologies and services.

We aim to catalyse new ventures and maximise the chances and magnitude of success and, ultimately, maximise returns to stake holders.

We offer technical and commercial knowledge and experience which allows a deep insight into the technical and commercial potential, and challenges, of developing and commercialising innovative technologies and services.

We focus our activities within our key areas of specialist technical, commercial and market sector knowledge, namely analytical and diagnostic technologies and services for the science, pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors (although we are happy to apply our generic commercialisation skills to other technologies and sectors).
